The Community Critical Needs Fund is an emergency grant program at the Kearney Area Community Foundation that provides grants to Buffalo County nonprofits addressing critical needs such as food, housing, transportation and health care.
The goal is simple: to make sure no one in our community goes without help when they need it most.
Today, many local nonprofits are seeing both reduced income and increased demand for essential services. The Community Critical Needs Fund ensures these organizations can continue their vital work, keeping families and individuals in our community safe and cared for.
The Community Critical Needs Fund was created in 2025 thanks to a generous $75,000 gift from local residents Pam Radtke and Rhonda Artrup. The fund quickly began to make an impact, with more than $43,000 in grants being awarded in less than a year after the fund's inception.
