Dobytown Kiwanis - Backpack Project

A nonprofit organization

The Dobytown Kiwanis Club is a dedicated group of members whose focus is improving the lives of Children in Kearney and around the world.

The Back-2-School project was started 34 years ago with 40 backpacks being distributed to 40 children in need. In 2025, 750 backpacks were distributed to Pre-K through 8th grade students and additional school supplies were provided for high school students in Buffalo County Area. There is a growing need to help the children of this community to be able to start a successful school year with the right supplies. Please help make that possible.

Testimonials

Over the years the Kiwanis Backpack Program has grown by leaps and bounds. In 2019, we included families affected by the early Spring flood in Kearney. This year, the country was hit by COVID-19 in which many parents lost their jobs. We didn't let the event pass and not have the backpack distribution because of COVID, these kids needed school supplies! Dobytown Kiwanis Club was able to ease the burden to parents and not having to buy school supplies. Kearney is a very giving community to those in need. We can use your support in our community.
Thank you!
