Buffalo County Citizen Advocacy
About This Organization
A Citizen Advocate is an unpaid community volunteer that makes a commitment to a vulnerable person living with a disability. The Citizen Advocate is a person who will learn to speak in the best interest of the person with a disability. Each match we make is independent of our office and human services. We provide support and resources to each match. We are a very small office that spends time getting to know all the people involved in the relationships that we match. Once we learn about the person with the developmental disability, we then ask who we may know in the community who has the characteristics that best match the person with the disability. We work one match at a time and do not work off of a referral system. The match is made with the intention and hope that it will be a long-lasting relationship that will expand beyond friendship.
