Together We Will Put the Power of Words in a Child’s Hands
Help a child discover new words, explore new ideas, and grow into a confident reader. Your gift to Kearney Dawn Rotary’s Dictionary Project helps provide a Scholastic Children’s Dictionary to every third-grade student in Buffalo County.
Education is one of Rotary International’s seven areas of focus and remains at the heart of our mission. Kearney Dawn Rotarians put that commitment into action by supporting education and literacy right here in our community.
In 2026, we celebrate our 22nd consecutive year of providing dictionaries to Buffalo County’s third graders. Since the project began in 2005, we’ve placed these learning tools in the hands of more than 15,000 students.
Third grade marks an important transition from learning to read to reading to learn. A dictionary helps students build vocabulary, strengthen their writing, and explore unfamiliar words independently. It’s a resource they can use in the classroom and at home as their curiosity grows—helping them become strong writers, curious readers, and lifelong learners.
This tradition is a cornerstone of our commitment to education in Buffalo County, and your support helps keep it going.Make a contribution to Kearney Dawn Rotary through the Give Where You Live campaign at givewhereyoulive.net.
Give today. Together, we can put the power of words into every third grader’s hands—and open the door to a lifetime of learning.
