In 2025, Kearney Dawn Rotary proudly celebrates the 21st consecutive year of providing a Scholastic Children's Dictionary to every 3rd-grade student in Buffalo County. Since launching this project in 2005, we've placed dictionaries in the hands of more than 14,000 students-believing in the power of words and the potential of every child to succeed when given the right tools.

Third grade is a critical year when students make the shift from learning to read to reading to learn. A dictionary at this stage becomes much more than just a book-it's a gateway to knowledge, creativity, and confidence in learning. Inspired by the Dictionary Project's vision, we see these dictionaries as tools that help shape strong writers, curious readers, and lifelong learners.
