The Central Nebraska Chess Club is dedicated to promoting chess as an educational and community-building tool throughout Central Nebraska. Our partnership with Kearney Parks and Recreation (KPR) allows us to offer Chess classes, where individuals of all ages and skill levels can learn and grow their understanding of the game. These classes cater to beginners and advanced players alike, helping people develop critical thinking, patience, and strategic skills through engaging lessons and activities.

We are also working closely with Kearney Public Schools (KPS) to integrate chess into their programs. Our goal is to bring chess to the classroom by advocating for the inclusion of chess in school curricula and extracurricular activities. Through this initiative, we aim to provide students with a valuable learning experience that enhances academic performance, problem-solving, and social development.
In addition to education, we host regular chess tournaments to give players the opportunity to hone their skills in a competitive setting. Our tournaments feature multiple sections, including USCF-rated, scholastic, and casual divisions, ensuring that players of all ages abilities.
