Give Where You Live Prizes


Give Where You Live (GWYL) is a 24-hour fundraising event created to rally community support for local charitable causes. This fun one-day fundraiser is being powered by the Kearney Area Community Foundation (KACF) and will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from midnight to midnight.


Community members are asked to make donations and show support for the local nonprofit organizations that positively impact their lives every day. Prizes, match money and other incentives during the Give Where You Live campaign make this a strategic way and time to give back to your community.


This year, for our campaign theme, “Recipe for Success”, there will be $135,000 given to participating nonprofits through the Challenge Match Pool and various themed prizes! Prize winners will also receive extra social media promotion. All times listed below are in CST.

1.  Chef's Kiss Prize

Diners, we mean donors, will be chosen at random, each hour, from the donations made during Give Where You Live to have an additional $250 Chef’s Kiss Prize given to the organization that received their donation. Winners drawn from 1:00 to 8:00 AM will be posted on social media after the office opens at 8:00 AM.

2.  Early Bird Special Prize

The early bird gets the worm! Donors who give between 5:00 and 6:00 AM on December 4 will be entered into a random drawing to win $500 for the organization that received their donation.



3.  Fill Your Pantry Prize

Participating nonprofits that raise over $10,000 during Give Where You Live will be entered into a random drawing for one organization to be awarded an endowment fund at the Kearney Area Community Foundation. If the winning organization already has an endowment at KACF, then the $10,000 prize will be added to their fund. Note: The winner doesn’t have to use the funds raised during GWYL for the endowment.

4.  First Bite Prize

Help us spread the word that Give Where You Live is our community’s Recipe for Success. We will post on the Kearney Area Community Facebook page at 8:00 AM on December 4. Anyone who publicly shares the post will be entered into a drawing to win a $800 prize to go to the Give Where You Live nonprofit of their choice. We will draw a winner at 3:00 PM and contact them, be sure to keep an eye on your messages. The winner will need to let us know by 6:00 PM which nonprofit they’d like to receive the prize. So, encourage your donors to share the post and to keep an eye on their messages after 3:00!

5.  Happy Hour Prize

Raise a glass to generosity! Donors who give between 5:00 and 6:00 PM on December 4 will be entered into a random drawing to win $500 for the organization that received their donation.

6.   Home Cooked Prize

KACF manages over 260 funds, and they truly bring the flavor! To show our continued support of nonprofits that are “home cooked” they will be entered into a random drawing for a $500 prize. To be eligible for the drawing, the organization needs to have raised more than $1,000 and had more than 10 gifts during Give Where You Live.

7.   Icing on the Cake Prize

This year we hope to accomplish something we’ve never done before and raise over $2 million during Give Where You Live! We will award a $1,000 prize to the organization whose donor’s gift puts us over the $2 million mark!

8.   Lunch Rush Prize

Take a lunch break and donate online! The organization that receives the most unique online donors between 12:00 and 1:00 PM on December 4 will receive this $500 prize.

9. Philanthropy Pie Prize

Come and get it! We will be serving up free slices of pie at three different times at the Kearney Area Community Foundation office on December 4. The times will be announced via our Facebook Page at 12:00 PM on December 3. One staff or board member of participating organizations can come get a piece of pie during the advertised times. A limited number of pie pieces will be available, and if the piece they receive has a special sticker on the bottom, your organization wins the prize!

10.   Secret Ingredient Prize

We can’t reveal all of our secret ingredients at once! Watch the Kearney Area Community Foundation’s Facebook page at 5:00 PM on December 3 to learn what the Secret Ingredient prize will be . . .

11.   Serving Up Stories Prize

Our hope is that the money raised through Give Where You Live will help local nonprofits continue to serve up what makes them special and so important to our community. So how will GWYL impact your organization? Post your organization’s goals on Facebook. Tell your followers how your organization serves up community support and success and explain what you hope to accomplish because of Give Where You Live.


To enter and qualify, explain how you are one of the essential ingredients of our community by posting on Facebook between November 6 and December 4 using the hashtag #RecipeForSuccess. You can post something new each week to be entered for the weekly drawing!


Next, email a screenshot of your posts each week to andi@kearneyfoundation.org with the following in the subject line: “Serving Up Stories Post”. Posts will need to be made and sent to Andi by 12:00 PM (Noon) on the day of each drawing in order to be entered in that week’s random drawing.


  • PRIZES: Four - $500 prize (randomly drawn from qualifying organizations – one each week – drawn November 13, November 20, November 26 (day early due to Thanksgiving) and December 4).


12.   Temperature Rising Prize

One of the great things about Give Where You Live is that you don’t have to wait until the first Thursday of December to start giving, as Early Giving starts November 6! Donors who donate between 12:00 AM on November 6 and 11:59 PM on December 3 will be entered into a random drawing to win $500 for the organization that received their donation.

13.   Well-Seasoned Prize

Prizes for the nonprofits with the biggest percentage increase over last year (only nonprofits that participated last year in Give Where You Live are eligible.) Eligible nonprofits must raise more than the prize amount. For example, if you only raise $200 and have the biggest percentage increase, you are only eligible for the $200 prize. 


  • PRIZES: 1st Place: $2,000, 2nd Place: $1,000, 3rd Place: $500, and 4th Place: $200
    (In case of a tie, a winner will be randomly drawn).


14.   What's Cooking Prize

This year’s theme is a great excuse for your organization to cook up something fun by hosting a Giving Destination! Organizations that host Giving Destinations this year are encouraged to embrace our theme, Recipe for Success, leading up to and during their Giving Destination event. Organizations that host a Giving Destination and make a social media post showing their creativity and this year’s theme will be entered to win a prize!


To enter and qualify, your organization must host a Giving Destination (registration required ahead of time-contact KACF for details) and post on social media showing your delicious event! Next, email a screenshot of your post to andi@kearneyfoundation.org by 7:30 PM on December 4 with the following in the subject line: “What’s Cooking”. Your organization will then be entered into a random drawing.

Early online giving starts November 6, 2025. Donations for the Give Where You Live campaign between 

November 6 - December 4 will be charged on the donor's credit card the day you make your donation. Early gifts will count towards prizes and match money.
