Family of Christ Lutheran Church is a small caring congregation. We welcome all in their faith journey. In late 2022 we adopted plans to offer regularly scheduled evening meals and fellowship to any and all individuals and families to combat the loneliness and lack of social contact following COVID-19 isolation along with rising food insecurities in our communities.
Since January 2023 our congregation has been serving free meals to the community the first and third Wednesdays of each month. All individuals and families are welcome to eat in or carry out a delicious meal. Recent sharp rising food costs and inflation have led to ever larger participation in our mission. Currently, we are serving an average of 150 meals twice monthly.
However, our community suppers are about much more than handing out plates of food. They are about delivering a to-go meal to someone who is sick and not able to drive. They're about making new friends and celebrating birthdays, graduations and anniversaries. They are about providing a safe space for someone in an abusive relationship, relating to children through crafts and games, and giving back to the community because you were once homeless yourself and someone helped you.
They are about allowing God to work through us.
