Buffalo County Recreation Area-Ravenna Lake
About This Organization
Buffalo County Recreation Area-Ravenna Lake was originally developed as a base for Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal. Its aim was to help alleviate unemployment during the Great Depression for men aged 18-25 and provided work focused on conservation projects throughout the U.S. After the nine-year program ended in 1942, the base became a State Recreation Area.
In the early 2000s the land was gifted from the State of Nebraska to Buffalo County, and since then, the County has established the Buffalo County Recreation Area-Ravenna Lake. Nestled in rural Buffalo County, just outside the town of Ravenna, the park's 87 acres feature a beautifully wooded and landscaped campground with 40+ campsites.
The campground offers a fully equipped bathhouse, dump station, picnic pavilion, playground designed by Crouch Recreation featuring ziplines, 18-hole disc golf course, pet exercise area, nature trail and a 20-acre oxbow lake. The lake is fully stocked with large-mouth bass, crappie, catfish and bluegill; boats with trolling motors, kayaks and canoes are welcome.
